Ten Great Gifts for Female Aerobics Instructors

Holiday Gift Guide

If you have a gym membership, you might be well acquainted with the in-house aerobics instructor. Purchasing a gift to honor their dedication to your fitness may be as simple as an extra tip, or you may choose to purchase a specific gift with them in mind. Aerobics instructors are often  energetic, contagious personalities, which means that shopping for them can be quite fun, but what is a respectable gift for your aerobics instructor? Here are ten great gift ideas for aerobics instructors.

1. Gym Bag – Many aerobics instructors carry specific gym bags to work with them, but it’s always nice to receive the gift of a “stuffed” gym bag. A monogrammed white towel, a few power bars, scrunchies, a brush, and hair clips if your aerobics instructor has medium to long hair, and a notepad with pen for jotting down quick notes are all nice additions to the bag, which might be used to hold an alternate set of gear.

2. Watch with Second Hand – Many aerobics instructors are hard on their watches. A nice watch with a second hand and waterproof housing is an excellent gift that will let them know you’re thinking about them. Second hands are necessary for checking pulse rates, and if you’re a busy aerobics instructor, the watch itself will help you stay on schedule.

The Benefits of Water Aerobics for Overweight People

Put on Your Bathing Suit and Jump In!

You say you're overweight and don't dare be seen in public in a bathing suit? Yet, that gym membership you signed up for in the dead of winter just isn't being used lately? And, it's just too dang hot to walk outside?

Don't let your pride stop you from a workout in the pool. If you are overweight, exercising in water is even more beneficial than one done on air, such a stationary bike or treadmill. Because you're pushing against water, rather than air, you're increasing  the stress on muscle mass, burning more calories. This process promotes muscle growth, not to mention cardiovascular training. In fact, water exercise is the best choice for those who are carrying around excess weight.

That's what I discovered last week when I bit the bullet and stuffed myself into my old swimming suit that I bought when I was 40 pounds lighter. I was glad I did. I was weary from joining my in-shape 160-pound trim husband on daily walks up our mountain, walking our dog in the summer heat. Yet, I still wanted to burn more calories. That's what losing weight is all about---burning more calories than you take into your body.

Review of Carmen Electra's Striptease Aerobics

Women of all ages are always looking for a new way to get slimmer and get toned. This is especially true as we enter into the warmer months of the year. If this year bathing suit season is getting you down, you may want to try this workout first. Carmen Electra along with fitness expert, Michael Carson, and wide-known choreographer Robin Antin have put together an amazing aerobics series. This workout uses sexy dance moves along with some slightly provocative striptease moves to get your heart rate up and your body toned.

Okay, I will admit, I was hesitant about buying these DVDs. Honestly, how many times have you purchased a workout video thinking it would be a good investment and it will help you get in shape only to find out that it kind of stinks? I rented the DVDs first to try this new wave of striptease workouts before I spent any more money on useless entertainment. I loved the first one so much that I went out and bought the whole set! And, after a 5-day stretch of the same video workout, I had to take the sixth day off due to the soreness my body was feeling!

In the first video titled Aerobic Striptease, Carmen Electra puts together a low impact workout that focuses on toning your hips, buns, thighs, and abs. She uses the striptease basics combined with workout moves and dance routines. This is the first DVD in the series and also the easiest. Disc two, Fit To Strip; with the help of Michael Carson, you go through an intense total-body routine that focuses on strengthening and toning. This workout also includes various mini-workouts to target problem areas. Fit To Strip will whip you into shape! Disc three, Advanced Aerobic Striptease; combines the routines you learned in the first two discs with some sexy costumes and role-play scenarios.

Water Aerobics: A Fat Girls Guide to Taking the Plunge

One of my clients, who has Downs Syndrome, needed to find an exercise program that would help her become fit without hurting her joints. We looked into water aerobics as an option for her. As her staff I would need to assist her while in the water and I went into a blind panic once we  received the go ahead from her physician.

I had to do the one thing I avoided for 15 years, shop for a swimsuit. I was not happy. Did they even make a suit in my size? I was hoping not as I had a vision of bouncing bikinis and for some reason Jane Fonda was teaching the class.

After talking myself out of Hari Kari in the middle of a local department store, a woman suggested I try a specialty swimsuit store that sells only suits that are made for use in chlorinated pools and had full figured sizes. I thanked her after I got over the urge to shove her size 10 suit down her throat.

Tips for Aerobics Beginners

Aerobics is a form of exercise designed to improve the body' circulatory and respiratory systems. The term was originated by Kenneth H. Cooper with the 1968 release of his book "Aerobics." A number of benefits are popularly attributed to a well-designed aerobics program. Those include  healthier heart and lungs, less fat, and more endurance.

Aerobic exercise has been recommended by some medical doctors as the best natural means to combat the onset of diabetes. Aerobic exercise prevents obesity and lessens the amount of glucose in the bloodstream. Some doctors also attribute strengthening of the immune system to regular aerobic exercises.

Virtually any work-out regime that increases circulatory and respiratory activity over a sustained period of time qualifies as aerobics. Walking, cycling, and light jogging are considered simple aerobics. More advanced levels of aerobic exercises include swimming, running, basketball, and dancing. Many programs exist to get a person started on an aerobics program.

When Workouts Go Wrong: Aerobics and Injuries

Aerobics are great exercises to do to get your heart pumping and your body sweating. You can use aerobic exercises in order to lose weight, build endurance, and stay heart healthy. However, there is also a downside to aerobic exercising for some people. If you are not careful, you could  get injured due to aerobic exercise. Therefore, it is important to follow these tips to making sure you are exercising and using aerobics in a fun and healthy way for your body.

First and foremost, when you are doing aerobics consider your dress. Wearing good shoes is important. Aerobics require lots of movement, so when you have worn shoes or laces that come untied often, there is a good chance you may slip and fall. You should also consider the other articles of clothing you're wearing. If they are too constricting or too heavy, you may become more easily overheated. Your clothing should breathe well and not be too tight in order to prevent you from injury.

Also consider your workout area, especially if you are working out at home. When you're at home, you'll need to make sure that you area is large enough for you to move and not bang into anything. It is also crucial that you service your workout equipment to make sure that it is in the best shape possible and will not cause injury. Your workout area at home should also be clean. How Tough Should Your Aerobics Workout Be?

Aerobics are great for losing weight and staying healthy because they strengthen your breathing and heart as well as help you burn fat. However, many people don't know or understand how to do an aerobics workout in order to best maximize the results. Intensity  is a very important aspect of any aerobics workout, so if you want to get the most out of your aerobics, make sure that you're following these three rules.

First, find that intensity that is your sweet spot. If you work out too intensely, you may injure yourself or will not see results. However, if you don't work out intensely enough, you will lose any weight or grow stronger. Therefore, you have to work with a program that has just the right intensity for your. When trying new exercises, try to make sure that they include enough weights or speed to make the workout hard, but not impossible. Remember also that you will need to re-work the intensity of your workout as your tolerance and endurance increases, so take a look at your routine every week or two and make necessary changes.

The second rule is to intensity and your workout is to be safe. Over training is a huge problem because it puts you and those around you in danger. When you under train, you see no results, which may push you intensify. That's good, but too much and you'll be vomiting before the workout is over and possibly injuring yourself. If you are training properly, your muscles should be sore, but your joints should not. Never do an intense exercise in which you cannot control your form or breathing. Instead, take breaks and use lower weights or speed to get back on track. This method will help you get more out of your workout anyway. In any case, if you are injured during a workout, call for help immediately from those around you. It is a good idea to workout with a partner or to at least let someone know that you're working out in case anything happens to you.
